At the Australian Time Attack event, the street-legal semi-slick claimed a 1-2 finish in the highly competitive Prodsprint Class courtesy of Josh Muggleton and Eric Wang, as well as a podium in the Clubsprint category in the hands of Jimmy Assaad.

What is Australian Time Attack?

Australian Time Attack is an annual event, now held at Victoria’s Winton Motor Raceway. The format is one of the ultimate tests of man and machine versus the clock, where competitors strive to set the fastest time of the day.

Racers put everything on the line in pursuit of the ‘perfect lap’, meaning that everything has to be in their favour – and tyres play a critical role.

To set the ideal time, tyres need to be at their optimal temperature and deliver consistent and predictable grip, and withstand the power and handling demands of these highly modified cars.

RE-71RZ – ideal for Australian Time Attack

Just like the RE-71RS entered the Australian market as an Australian Time Attack Winner, the Potenza RE-71RZ has shown it delivers the performance needed at high-level competition.

Prodsprint winner Josh Muggleton pushed his Toyota GR Yaris to a time of 1m28.4640s around the 2km circuit – not only winning the class with a personal best time, but beating the class lap record by 0.6 seconds.

He praised the attributes of the RE-71RZ, confirming it lives up to the expectation – building on the things that drivers loved in the RE-71RS and improving on them, making it the new benchmark tyre for grassroots motorsport.

“The RZ I think feels very similar to the RS, but with a bit more lateral grip and the time it spits out is obviously better,” he said.

“All in all, I was very impressed. It basically just does everything better than the competition, all round.”

Fast. Consistent. Durable.

The Potenza RE-71RZ delivers the grip, consistency and durability competitors demand. With its 200 treadwear rating (200TW), the Potenza RE-71RZ is has already shown its capabilities in events like Australian Time Attack.

Competitors who have sampled the RE-71RZ agree that is provides consistent and predictable performance, and its large outside tread block have made it more durable – resulting in more laps at peak performance.

With its broad range of available sizes catering to a vast array of vehicles, RE-71RZ is the ideal tyre to extract maximum capability on the track, while still being legal for use on the road.
