Bridgestone Donates Land to Salisbury Community
Adelaide (12 April 2011) Bridgestone Australia Ltd. has officially donated a portion of land at the Company's former manufacturing site to the City of Salisbury.
The land has been gifted to the Council in perpetuity for community use.
Bridgestone Australia Ltd's Group Chairman and Managing Director Mr Nobuyuki Mieno said the donation was made in recognition of local support over the many years the facility operated.
"This land has been gifted as a way for us to acknowledge the unwavering support of Council and the people of Salisbury over the 46 years the manufacturing facility operated," he said.
"As we said at the time of the closure announcement, the contribution of our employees over so many years is to be admired and celebrated.
"This land has been donated in perpetuity for community use and will serve as a lasting reminder of the Company's gratitude to all those employees and to the entire Salisbury community."
The land was officially donated to the City of Salisbury by Bridgestone Australia Ltd. at a ceremony held on Tuesday, April 12.
Bridgestone's National Distribution Centre remains at Salisbury and staff will continue operating from this site. It is anticipated decommissioning of the site will be completed in the coming weeks.
