Bridgestone motorsport wrap for 29th October 2007
Listen in as World Champion Stoner prepares to end year on a high
Australia's Casey Stoner is preparing to make more history this weekend at the final round of the MotoGP championship in Valencia.
Having already wrapped up the championship a month ago in Japan, the 21-year old now holds a huge 106 point lead over Valentino Rossi in the title standings with one race remaining.
His season has been nothing short of spectacular with 10 race victories, top six finishes in every round of the season so far and he's the only rider to have scored points in every round.
"It has started to sink in. I think I will still need a little more time, maybe until the end of the season before we really start to realise what we have done and what we have achieved this year. It's been a great challenge," said Stoner.
"It was against everybody's expectations. Nobody expected me to win first year especially with Ducati. A lot of people said you need a lot of experience to ride this bike but I have proven a lot of people wrong with that."
