Bridgestone Motorsport Wrap for 3rd August 2009
BRIDGESTONE-BACKED HRT BACK ON TOP
It was a big weekend for the Bridgestone-backed Holden Racing Team (HRT) at Sandown in Victoria, with Will Davison and teammate Garth Tander taking one win each and closing the gap on the championship leader.
Davison took the first pole position of his V8 Supercar career as well as his first victory as a Holden driver with a win in Saturday's opening race.
Championship rival Jamie Whincup managed to jump past him on the opening lap but then suffered a bungled pit stop to hand victory to Davison.
Whincup could only finish sixth, allowing Davison to take 48 points out of the Ford driver's championship lead.
Sunday's race was even better for HRT with Tander leading Davison home in a one-two finish with Whincup only managing to finish third.
The HRT team now has a serious chance to challenge Whincup's title defence, particularly with the endurance rounds still to come at Phillip Island and Bathurst.
The next two races in the series will be held at Queensland Raceway from August 21 to 23.

2. Will Davison (Holden) 1674
