1985 - Sales exceed $200 million.
1985 - The Tyre Division's National Distribution Centre is opened, constructed adjacent to the Salisbury tyre manufacturing plant.
1986 - Bridgestone acquires the Airstep rubber underlay name and equipment.
1986 - A major investment and re-equipment programme is initiated at the Salisbury Tyre Plant to improve the quality of all tyres.
1988 - Bridgestone becomes the major Australian manufacturer of rubber carpet underlay.
1988 - Australia's first low profile steel radial ply tyre is manufactured by Brigestone.
1989 - Employment is now 2960 and sales have reached $378 million per annum.
