SOLID START FOR BRIDGESTONE-BACKED V8s
The Bridgestone-backed Nissan Motorsport team has made a strong start to the 2013 V8 Supercar season with the Jack Daniels cars not far off the pace at the Clipsal 500.
Rick Kelly brought his car home just outside the top ten in Saturday's first race, while brother Todd was very up-beat about the car's debut.
"I was really happy with the car (on Sunday); it was the first time I've got to settle down and actually race people," Todd said.
"Even though we struggled out of the corners, we could get it all back under brakes and in the middle of the corners.
"Even after they pulled away down the straight we could get around them one way or another and pass them. When we get on top of our straight line speed these cars are going to be unreal.
"They are really enjoyable to drive and even though the race ended early I felt really good in the car at that point and wanted to press on and pick up a few spots at the end. Unfortunately it didn't happen, but certainly very promising the way the car feels."
Craig Lowndes won Saturday's race while Shane van Gisbergen took out Sunday's event in a strong start for Holden.
1. Craig Lowndes (Holden) 279 points
2. Jamie Whincup (Holden) 267
3. Will Davison (Ford) 240
11. Rick Kelly (Nissan) 135
