BRIDGESTONE-BACKED TANDER & DAVISON KINGS OF THE MOUNTAIN

Garth Tander and Will Davison - driving a Bridgestone-sponsored Holden Racing Team Commodore - have broken Ford's recent dominance around Mount Panorama to take an action-packed Bathurst 1000 victory.

The HRT duo coped best with everything thrown at them, including ever-changing weather conditions, numerous safety car periods and a field of 31 other cars to take Holden's first win at Bathurst since 2005.

"To finally come here and have everything go to plan, it was fantastic and shows just what a great and capable team we have," Tander said.

"To have a car which could go fast in the dry and the wet, it was a credit to them.''

It was an all-Holden podium with second going to the Jason Richards/Cameron McConville combination ahead of Lee Holdsworth/Michael Caruso.

Championship leaders Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes, who were aiming for their fourth consecutive Bathurst victory, suffered clutch problems late in the race and could only manage fifth place.

The result means that Tander has closed to within 93 points of Whincup in the V8 Supercars championship.
